LEI Principled Innovation Grant Program

The LEI Principled Innovation Grant Program aims to develop innovative generative AI solutions in education, bringing together multidisciplinary teams of ASU faculty and staff to tackle educational challenges through the lens of principled innovation. This collaborative initiative is supported by experts from the LEI, Academic Enterprise, Enterprise Technology, Knowledge Enterprise and EdPlus. Grant recipients participate in workshops and receive guidance throughout their project development. 

We welcome applications from faculty and staff who are passionate about transforming education through AI-driven solutions.

Foundations of Learning Engineering

This class provides an overview of learning engineering, an emerging discipline that integrates the science of learning, design sciences, cognitive science and systems engineering. The class will overview the major learning engineering areas with applications and tools used in the area. The objectives of the course are to familiarize students with the academic discipline of learning engineering and present students with the tools used within the discipline both in academic research and industry.

Learning Engineering Seminar

Join our seminar for a deep dive into learning engineering. Explore theories, gain practical skills and build a vibrant community focused on improving learning outcomes. This seminar introduces current learning engineering topics, integrating insights from the science of learning, design sciences, cognitive and behavioral sciences and engineering. Graduate students gain LE discipline knowledge for research and industry application. Guest speaker sessions foster a learning engineering community.

Graduate Certificate in Learning Engineering

This graduate certificate program fuses knowledge from the science of learning and skills from a variety of disciplines such as human-centered design, usability, evaluation and systems design to address challenges that arise within training and educational organizations or systems. This training prepares students to work in interdisciplinary teams to solve problems. The program includes lectures, discussion and hands-on courses to ensure that students have a grasp of learning engineering methods and can apply them within professional settings.

Students in this certificate program will be part of the Learning Engineering Research Network, which will allow them to connect with industry professionals and academic researchers within the field of learning engineering.
